Blue Wisteria 

The Blue Wisteria Vine provides an unparalleled grand show that has been known to stop traffic! It is hardy, fast-growing, and a free-flowering vine that is loaded with 12 clusters of blue-violet flowers in late spring to early summer. The Blue Wisteria is really magnificent when trained as a tree form, up a wall, or over an arbor. It can grow to 30' in full sun. Plant 10' apart. Wisterias are also known as the Blue Wisteria and can be used in many different ways; one popular use of it is training it to grow over arbors. You can also use this as a specimen plant or even as a screen, but you must properly support the heavy vine or it will fall and break. 

Tree Wisterias need extra support to hold their heads up in strong winds. After planting, push a wooden stake into the ground 6-12 in. deep and 1/2 in. away from the plant's trunk. Secure the trunk to the stake at several points about 8 in. apart. As the head grows and the trunk expands, you'll need to replace the original stake with a larger wooden stake or a heavy steel pipe. Check the tree in spring and fall to make sure the stake is holding firm and the tie tape used to secure the trunk to the stake is not too tight and restricting expansion of the trunk. Plants should always remain securely staked.
