London Plane Tree is a very large deciduous tree that can grow to be up to 100 feet tall. They have a dense canopy that is great for reducing your energy bills. Their brown flaking bark reveal a cream colored trunk. This tree has dark green leaves with lighter undersides and during autumn they turn a yellow-brown color. It blooms during April and is best grown in moist well-drained fertile soil. London plane is well loved because it not only adds shade to your yard but also adds value to your home as well as gives your yard a sense of flair and curb appeal.
Plane trees have large, coarse leaves. Resembling maple leaves in shape, they have 3 to 5 sharply pointed lobes and may measure up to 6 to 8 inches long and 8 or 10 inches across. Sometimes they are broader than they are long. They have smooth, dull medium green surfaces and paler undersides with hairy veins. They emerge in late spring, most dropping in December, although a few may persist until very late winter.
